Costs for Patients

Introduction to Costs for Patients

Cost for Patients (Pay What you Value)

Costs to patients for the One, 2 ka 4 Program is 100% donation based and up to the discretion of what each patient would like to donate to LPS Health and the One 2 ka 4 program. LPS Health is a non-profit organization and all proceeds exceeding the actual overhead costs go to funding LPS Health’s community outreach program, mentorship program, and in developing the LPS health Physician Network Program.

NRI patients visiting India are encouraged to donate based on the value this evaluation could bring to them in terms of how important their own health is to them and their family. The focus of the screening program is to detect and prevent early deaths due to heart disease. Therefore, the value of this must be very personal. We would encourage all to think of this in terms of what they would pay to buy a little insurance that they will be alive to see their children get married or live long enough to see their grandchildren. Unfortunately, this is something that Indians can no longer take for granted as too many of us are dying too early from something that can be prevented.

The other way one is encouraged to pay an amount for this evaluation is in terms of what something like this could cost them in the USA. We have listed costs of similar programs and exams below as a reference. It is not uncommon for all of us to pay $1000 or more as a part of your deductible for a single MRI or Cat Scan exam in the USA. Many of the radiology exams in this program are not covered by insurance plans in the USA and must be paid in cash. For example, just the CT Coronary Angiogram exam has an average cost of about $2500 and exams like the Cardiac Perfusion MRI exam is only available at a few hospitals in New York and Los Angeles at a similar cost. Moreover, none of these exams come with a tailored advance cardiac lab work and an Indian Physician as knowledgeable about Metabolic Syndrome as Dr. Morar going over your results and coming up with a personalized treatment plan.

Our estimate is that an equivalent evaluation could easily cost someone in the USA as much as $10,000 – $15,000 if available to them. Therefore, our request is that patients interested in the One2ka4 Program consider paying up to what they can afford to pay. One consideration would be to pay what one is willing to pay for an airline ticket to visit India for their vacation. Dr. Morar’s goal is not to deny this screening program to any LPS NRI man over the age 40 and any LPS NRI women over the age and would be willing to personally subsidize their costs if appropriate donations can not be made.
